Our Nipple Reconstruction is a  permanent traditional tattoo. This means you don't experience abnormal fading. Jeanette is a licensed tattoo artist with 20 years of cosmetic tattoo experience.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is working with breast cancer survivors. 3D Areola Restoration is a procedure for women and men who have lost one or both nipples through surgery or trauma. By using traditional tattooing techniques the appearance of the nipple can be restored to a more natural appearance after mastectomy, breast reduction scars, or trauma. Areola Restoration can create an Areola after breast reconstruction minimizing the appearance of scars to restore Areola to a more natural-looking color and shape.

About your Areola Appointment

Anesthetic is not always necessary. In some cases, a topical anesthetic may be applied if needed for any discomfort you may have. The treatment time will be about three hours, Jeanette will discuss design, desired color for your Areola, photos, and paperwork. A single Areola can often be completed in about one hour, but some treatments take longer. Please bring a sports bra to hold bandages in place after the procedure. The process for touch-ups will be similar to the initial treatment but may be shorter. I always include a free touch- up with every application. This will be 8 to 10 weeks after your first visit. Please schedule your perfection appointment before you leave.

Aftercare

Remove the dressing (the next morning) and gently cleanse your tattoo with an antibacterial soap Dial or Neutrogena. Using your fingers working in a circular motion under warm water rinsing well. Do not use a sponge, loofah, or washcloth during the healing process. Once your tattoo is thoroughly clean, and free of all aftercare, blot with a clean tissue or allow to air dry about 15 minutes, please make sure it is completely dry! Apply a very thin layer of aftercare (vaseline, Aveeno) to your tattoo. You will need to reapply as needed if the area fees dry or itchy between cleanings. Please remember to use a small amount of aftercare it needs to breathe. This will be done 2 to 3 times daily for 7 days.

Please remember failure to follow post-treatment instructions may cause loss of pigmentation and or infection. Do not expose the treated area to the sun, tanning bed, or any living body of water (oceans, lake, pool, hot tub, sauna, etc.) Be careful of activities that may cause rubbing or friction to the tattoo. Please do not pick or pull scabs, allow them to fall off naturally.

Call Jeanette if you have any questions or concerns or if there is redness or warmth around the tattoo or a temperature above 101, increased drainage that contains pus, pain, or a bad odor from the site.

Testimonials

Jeanette is the best!

She performed some permanent makeup procedures that I love such as eyeliner and eyebrows and they turned out wonderfully.  However, the procedure that made the biggest impact on my life was the 3D Areola Tattooing after breast reconstruction surgery following a double mastectomy.  During the reconstruction process, I opted to not have new nipples created.  This decision was reached primarily because I had seen a video online that showed an alternative to this procedure.  The alternative was 3D Areola Tattoos.  The results shown in the video were amazing.  I found out that Jeanette performed this alternative and based on her prior work it was a go-to have this done.  I didn't hesitate for a minute because I knew Jeanette would do a fabulous job.  And I was right - the 3D Areola Tattoos were awesome. Jeanette is a true professional with an artist's eye.  She welcomed my input throughout the process to make sure I was happy with the end result.  She was very patient and caring as she did her magic.  There was very little pain during the procedure and she was checking in with me throughout to make sure that I was ok.   I still marvel when I look in the mirror and see how natural this looks.  She is amazing and I would recommend her to anyone looking for alternatives in breast construction.  This was the best decision for me and I am extremely happy with the results.

Three years ago I had "that surgery" preceded by a lot of thought, a lot of research, a lot of prayers, and a lot of hope. My decision was based on being preemptive and preventative but so many twists and turns in the road made me a true survivor. Inner Circle, LeAnne Weaver Tillman, Laurie Riley, and Bettye Lynn Bellar Richert, once again, I cannot thank you enough for your love, care, commitment, and diligence! It is surreal to remember now the long, unexpected, and tenuous road on which you accompanied me. Kristina Kotseos O'Shaughnessy, Laura Futrell, and Jeanette Wirz thank you for using your gifts, talents, and expertise to treat and put me back together! What a great team of strong, competent women! Thank you again, Jeanette! You were awesome!

I wish I would have done this sooner!

I had Areola re-pigmentation after Areola reduction procedure left me with peri-areolar scars and lightened Areolas which made me extremely self-conscious. Jeanette was wonderful! Very professional but also down to earth and made me feel very comfortable. She did a fantastic job of making my Areolas look normal again, and I can't say enough how much that improved my confidence and comfort in my own skin. I would highly recommend her!

Thank you so much, Jeanette! Marcie. Jan 2010

Her talents are a true gift and I am grateful for her.

Following my experience with a bilateral mastectomy, I began my journey to find something to "complete" me. I met with Jeanette to discuss Areola tattoos. I was amazed at how this procedure would make me feel like a normal woman again. Jeanette was creative, helpful, compassionate, all while remaining professional. She went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable. This visit turned out to be the best ending to my cancer treatment. Since then, I have used Jeanette for my permanent eyeliner and Microblading. Her work is impeccable and second to none.
